Amazing Scenery at Puro Island, Biliran


Biliran is another destination to visit. It is an island province where one can enjoy the scenic tourist spots. Situated off the northern coast of Leyte Island, the island is accessible through the Poro Bridge that connects it to the province of Leyte. The province of Biliran has two major volcanic islands; the Maripipi Island and Biliran Island.

Amazing Scenery at Puro Island, Biliran

Biliran is another destination to visit. It is an island province where one can enjoy the scenic tourist spots. Situated off the northern coast of Leyte Island, the island is accessible through the Poro Bridge that connects it to the province of Leyte. The province of Biliran has two major volcanic islands; the Maripipi Island and Biliran Island.

Other islands that are located in Biliran is the Higatangan Island, Dalutan Island and the wonderful Puro Island. Puro Island is situated off the coast of Cabucgayan and within Cargigara Bay. The island is privately owned. It has pristine white sand beaches and its surrounding waters are well-known for the hammerhead sharks.

Tourists will certainly love the inviting scenery of Puro Island. The small island provides breathtaking views that are perfect for unwinding. There is also a beach resort on the island where one can enjoy fun activities. Meanwhile, on the other side of the island one can see the Poro Bridge that links Leyte and Biliran.

The island is perfect for photo-ops where one can have a great backdrop of the perfect blue sky and pristine water. Upon visiting Biliran, one should not forget to check this wonderful island. One can easily go there by riding a small boat from the port of Biliran town.

How to get there

By Air To reach Puro Island, tourist can take a flight going to Tacloban City. Tacloban is the gateway going to Billiran Island. Major airlines like Cebu Pacific and PAL Express has a daily flight from Manila to Tacloban City. Upon reaching Tacloban DZR Airport, one can take ride a van or a bus going to Naval. You can go to the terminal of Duptours, Grandtours or Van-van’s if you want to ride a van. Upon reaching the province, tell the driver to drop you off in Biliran town or at the Puro Bridge.

By Sea Visitors from Cebu can take a ferry trip going to Ormoc City, Leyte. Major shipping lines have a trip daily going to Ormoc. The Travel time is three to five hours. You can also take a direct ferry ride from Cebu going to Naval.  There are only two ferry trips per week from Cebu to Naval. The travel time is around eight (8) hours. Upon reaching the port of Ormoc, you can take an air-conditioned shuttle van that directly goes to Naval. Drop off at Biliran.
