Puerto Galera is not just famous for its beaches and dive sites, but also for its repository of priceless historical artifacts. Excavation Museum is one of the landmarks of the province, located near the town hall and within the grounds of the Immaculate Concepcion Church.

Most of archeological treasures of Puerto Galera can be found within the Excavation Museum. The museum houses relics taken from excavations throughout the region.

This museum houses several collections of Chinese and Siamese pottery from the 15th to 19th centuries. Items such as swords, jars, lamps, and Chinese porcelain that date back several centuries to pre-colonial days are also exhibits of the museum. It contains Ming Dynasty burial jars as well as a fine collection of shells.

One highlight of the museum are items from sunken merchant vessels found off the coast, lending credence to stories that sunken treasure still awaits expeditious divers today.
