Give way to the city of Navotas, the “Fishing Capital of the Philippines”, as it marks its annual celebration of Pangisdaan Festival. It is the most anticipated and grandest event in the city. Held every 16th of January, the revelry is a tribute to every bountiful catch of fish in the city. People of Navotas express their deep gratitude to their main source of income which is fishing and this thanksgiving is pictured through the Pangisdaan Festival.

Pangisdaan Festival is one of the events in the country that many tourists surely know about. I have here a To-Do List while you are at the festival.

Prepare your body for the big event!

The festival is really a big event. Make sure that you are wearing your comfortable clothes. I advise you to wear shoes instead of slippers; it is quite more convenient. Bring towels and water for handling the sweltering heat and expect a large crowd of people during the event.

Don’t forget to bring your important things.

The day before the festival, make sure that you've packed all the important things. Bring a closed bag that will keep your money and other personal belongings safe and secure. If you have a camera, it is a must to bring it. Also, bring an extra shirt and snacks just in case.

Watch street dancing and floating parade competitions.

A street dancing and float parade whose theme is the fishing industry of Navotas are two of the much awaited activities of the event. Participants joined by different schools around the city are fully clad with colorful costumes and props that are made of native materials for fishing like the lambat, baklad, and kawayan.

Taste the tastiest anchovies and fish paste.

Anchovies, considered as food of the rich people, can be bought here in a very cheap price. Also, if you love cuisine combined with “bagoong”, then the city offers the tastiest fish paste Navotas is famous of.

Buy affordable seafood.

Where to buy seafood? Of course in Navotas! It is the center of the seafood industry in the country, and you'll find great deals when purchasing fresh produce.

Love fireworks display.

The celebration will not be complete without the blazing Grand Fireworks Display. It is the best fireworks show ever where it will light up the sky of the city. It is a fine way to relax together with your family and friends after the entire day of culminating activities.

Enjoy night-long merrymaking.

After the day celebrations, there is a night variety show prepared for locals and tourists alike. They are graced with the city band and some famous performers, which will surely satisfy your night-long merrymaking.

Capture pictures.

For the lovers of photography, the festival is one of the best shots that you will have. Capture every single detail of the event!

Nurture your knowledge about the place.

Take pleasure in the rich culture, tradition, and history of Navotas City. Witness their showcase of skills and talents during the activities.
