Davao City and Cagayan de Oro City are the most common places in Mindanao that are frequently visited by tourists and visitors alike. Apart from these two cities, there are also other areas in Mindanao that remains off the beaten path and are open for discovery to travelers and backpackers who wants to explore the beauty of Mindanao.

The island has its magnanimous share of pristine white beaches that a tourist would not expect. So here are some of the unspoiled white beaches situated in Mindanao:

1. Dahican Beach, Mati, Davao Oriental


This white beach is crescent-shaped and 7-kilometer long. It has two resorts at each end of the stretch and practically a perfect paradise that one could dream up. Tourists who already visited the beach consider it is more beautiful that Boracay. Dahican beach faces the Pacific Ocean, so it is also a haven for skimboarders and surfers.

2. San Jose, Dinagat Islands


San Jose is the capital of the Province of Dinagat Islands. It is accessible via a ferry boat from Surigao City. It is abundant of white beaches, karts and other natural attractions. A visit to San Jose will remind tourists of the famous El Nido Island in Palawan and exploring it will take you more than one day. San Jose has also white sand beaches that are comparable to Boracay.

3. Gumasa Beach, Glan, Sarangani


An unexploited and underdeveloped beach, Gumasa is a quiet white paradise that is just an hour away from General Santos City. It is often called as the “Boracay of SOCCSKSARGEN” because of its pristine white sand beach. Tourists can enjoy a quiet walk along its shoreline and enjoy the refreshing scenery. It is also a perfect place for star gazing.

4. Britania Islands, San Agustin, Surigao del Sur


Surigao del Sur has many interesting white beaches and rocky islets that are covered with greenery. Among them is the Britania Islands. The place is valued because it is considered as a combination of the Hundred Islands of Pangasinan and the Chocolate Hills of Bohol. There are 24 islets that can be seen during an island hopping tour where tourist will definitely fall in love.

5. Kaputian Beach, Samal Island, Davao del Norte

Known for its white stretches of sand, Samal Island continues to be the fastest growing tourist destination in the Philippines. Even though it’s becoming a major attraction, the island still offers unspoiled beaches. Among them is the Kaputian Beach which is situated south of Samal and it is definitely the perfect spot for those who wants to have a peace of mind.
