Mimbalut Falls is a must-see destination in Iligan City. It is the most accessible among the twenty-three (23) waterfalls in the city. It is one of the reasons why Iligan is called the City of Majestic Waterfalls. Maybe it’s not grandiose like the Maria Cristina falls, but Mimbalut Falls is alluring and captivating that a tourist will certainly like.

Located at Barangay Buru-un, Mimbalut falls is a favorite destination among the locals and tourists alike. The waterfall is approximately 90 ft high where one can have a glimpse of heaven upon seeing its breathtaking scenery and the area that surrounds it.  With cool refreshing waters, the place is ideal for relaxation.

Meanwhile, the waterfalls cascade on huge rocks that form smaller waterfalls and basins which are not suitable for swimming because of the danger that surrounds it. But if you like to swim you can go in the many pool basins down the waterfalls. There are no lifeguards in the area so you should take some precautionary measures.

The majestic falls is not just a tourist destination; it also plays a vital role in the lives of the people living nearby. It is a popular spot for the residents to wash their clothes and take a bath. Tourists can easily reach the destination because of its accessibility. It is just 500 meters away from the national highway which makes it more convenient.

A visit to Iligan City is not complete without seeing its numerous waterfalls. Every waterfall in the city is unique and one of its kind. Actually Mimbalut Falls is part of the Iligan Paradise Resort and Eco Park, it is where you can find a lot of exciting activities.

How to get there

Visitors who want to see the majestic Mimbalut Falls can take a jeepney ride that takes the Buru-un route.  Tell the driver to drop you off at  the Iligan City National School of Fisheries or at the corner road going to Mimbalut. From there, rent a habal-habal (motorcycle) that will take you to the falls (you can ask the driver). If you’re into hiking, you may walk for a few minutes going to the Mimbalut Falls. Just follow the road trail beside the school.
