Los Baños is known for its hot spring resorts, it is a municipality located in Laguna which lies in the northern slope of Maria Makiling. Los Baños is a Spanish term for “the baths” or “bathing place”, as the name suggest it's a place where one can take a bath on the warm springs that surrounds the town.

Aside from the popular hot springs, Los Banos also have other tourist attractions and the Dampalit Falls is one of them. It’s not grandiose like Maria Cristina or Pagsanjan Falls, but it also has some breathtaking scenery where one will be certainly refreshed.

It is said that the name Dampalit is mentioned by Jose Rizal in his journal when he visited the Niagara Falls. Rizal said that the Dampalit Falls were more mysterious and charming even though it’s much smaller than the Niagara Falls. This only means that the Los Baños Falls otherwise known as the Dampalit Falls fascinated our national hero.

If Rizal was captivated by its beauty, certainly tourists will also love the Dampalit Falls. The primary falls of Dampalit is quite high and streams down into a shallow basin then continues to stream on a series of shorter drops into the huge rocks.

The environment that surrounds the Dampalit Falls is quite refreshing which makes the place ideal for picnics. Residents have also built several tables and huts which can be rented at a price of P200-P300. Visitors can also buy in a few stores that sell foods, but at higher rates.

Take note that there is an entrance fee of P50 upon entering.

How to get there (from Manila):

Ride a bus going to Sta. Cruz, Laguna. Tell the driver to drop you off near Camp Eldridge. Get off the bus in front of Lalakay Elementary School, just opposite Camp Eldrige. From there you can walk to Dampalit Falls, but it will be a long hike. Still, visitors will be relaxed after seeing the refreshing Dampalit Falls.
