Manjuyod Sandbar – Worthy to Brag About

Do you know that there is a white sand bar in Negros Oriental that only appears during low tide and gets submerged on high tide? Also known as the Sumapao Shoal, Manjuyod Sandbar is an island at the North Bais Bay in the Tañon Strait with so much tourism potential. One famous thing to do is the dolphin and whale watching at the sandbar, which is a major stopover of tourists who are fond of this activity.

Manjuyod Sandbar is a 7-kilometer stretch of pristine white-sand beach. So aside from dolphin watching, tourists can take a refreshing dip or have an underwater exploration.

If you come here with family or friends, there is always a perfect setting that will suit your interest. There are also wooden cottages built on stilts on the island and these appear to be floating on water during high tide. The cottages could be rented for overnight stays and can be booked at the Bais City Tourism Office.

If you are planning to visit the Manjuyod White Sand Bar, it is advisable to book in advance. The Bais City Tourism Office can be reached at (035)541-5161 / 402-8174 Fax (035)402-8181. Boat rate is P2, 500 for a group of 15 and P3, 000 for a group of 20. This is already basically for an entire day of use.

The organized tour package includes dolphin and whale watching at Tañon Strait, stopover at Manjuyod Sand Bar for lunch and other activities and finally, a visit to the Bird Sanctuary and Mangrove Park before heading back to the wharf.
