The idyllic province of Antique has Mt. Madia-as, one of the most challenging mountains to climb in Western Visayas.  It is considered the highest mountain on the island, a dormant volcano adorned with several lakes and showcases more than a dozen scenic waterfalls. Its peak is always shrouded with clouds, but the mountain can be seen during clear weather and in the late afternoons.  It is recognized as the highest mountain in Panay and makes the province of Antique a really satisfying destination for climbing.

Mt. Madia-as’s peak is 2,117m above sea level. A journey to the mountain is a worthwhile experience. This majestic mountain is home to many different species of flora and fauna, like rare orchids, wild deer and boar.  The scenery is made more picture-perfect with a lagoon and a lush rain forest.

It offers a great view of the surrounding areas and provides the experience of seeing unexplored sights. It has currently a relatively unexplored peak and is becoming one of the top climbing spots in the country.

Getting there:

The capital town of Antique, San Jose de Buenavista, is accessible via plane from Manila, and from many cities of the country through Iloilo City.  From Iloilo, it's a two-hour ride by bus or van.
