Nightlife in Cebu

After an exhausting first day in Cebu, we decided to cruise around town and look for clubs where we can dance our stress away. The taxi driver told us that Mango Avenue's nightlife is perky and upbeat. Clubs lined up the road, with blaring sounds and blinding neon lights. I smelled FUN!

Our first stop was Alchology at Mango Square. The entrance was nice, with stone steps and huge double doors. It's like I was entering a haunted mansion. Haha! Inside was even bigger. There were lounges on either side of the dancefloor. Lighting was minimal but the bass and sounds were LOUD! I could really feel every beat and thump of the music. The music itself was okay, though I was thinking it could be livelier and more upbeat. The crowd was wild when we got there and most of the patrons were dressed to kill. I was only with my usual tank tops and jeans at the time so I felt kind of out of place. Nevertheless, I had a great time.

Sir Elison Barcelo and Alchology Manager, Mr. Jesen Casas

Next stop was J Ave Superclub, just a stone's throw away from Alchology. There were more foreign patrons here and I saw a mix of races dancing together with our local clubbers. Even on a weekday night, the place was jam-packed. There was much energy in the air and people were gyrating and pulsing with the rhythm. This club also follows a strict dresscode so be sure to dress smartly.

Our last place to visit was Hybrid, also at Mango Square. The ambiance here was more mellow compared to the first two clubs. Only few people were inside at the time. The space was also smaller and the dancers were, let's say, tamer. Perhaps this place transforms into an all-out danceclub during its peak hours, but when we got there, there wasn't much activity going on.

So, these three were the features of our nightlife is Cebu and I hope I could visit more next time I go bar-hopping there. :D
