Old Catarman Church Ruins and Cross Marker and Sunken Cemetery are two of the town’s proudest attractions, the landmarks bridging the past to the present.

Old Catarman Church Ruins is located in Bonbon, it was the remains of the 1871 volcanic eruption that wiped out Catarman which was a picture of the illustrious Spanish settlement that was established in 1697, only the adobe walls and belfry was left as of today that survived the devastating wrath of nature.

Cross Marker and Sunken Cemetery

During the volcanic birth of Mt. Vulcan that lasted from 1871 to about 1875, some areas in the town of Bonbon subsided, sinking the cemetery of the town to below sea level. The place is commemorated by a huge cross erected in 1982.


How to get there

There are daily flights from Manila to Cagayan De Oro City's Lumbia Airport. From the airport a jeepney ride will take to Agora Bus Terminal, where there is a bus going to Balingoan, Misamis Oriental, a coastal town that serves as a entry point to Camiguin. It takes on hour to cross the port of Benoni, or 45 minutes to cross towards the port of Guinsiliban. From Cagayan De Oro , there is also a daily catamaran that plies the CDO-Camiguin route. The same ferry also travels daily from Camiguin to Tagblaran, Bohol and vise versa.

How to get there

By land, sea, and air, Misamis Oriental is very accessible. Major airlines such as Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, Zest Air, Air Philippines fly to the Lumbia Airport in Cagayan de Oro.
