Panglao Island: The Little Paradise of Pure Hearts

Panglao is well-known as the “little paradise of pure hearts.” It is found in the beautiful province of Bohol, land of sun-kissed hills and verdant tropical landscapes.


Panglao is recognized for its serene beaches and a variety of diving sites. Since this little island is seldom humming with tourists, it is considered as the best place to have some quiet time and some peaceful relaxation. It has clear turquoise waters with much marine biodiversity and refined sand boasting its rich whiteness.


Adjacent to this island is another majestic jewel called Virgin Island, just less than half an hour from Panglao Island. Unbeknownst to many, Virgin Island is another paradise that offers a breathtakingly view of unspoiled white beaches. It is named that way because there are no people living in the area.


Hailed as a “hidden oasis”, Virgin Island is a sanctuary of different kinds of sea creatures from a variety of fishes, sea urchins, shelfishls, starfish and a lot more. Though there aren't a lot of amenities or luxuries on the island, the sights are enough to make your trip to the island worthwhile.


Going to Virgin Island

From Manila, just take a flight to Tagbilaran, which takes about a little over an hour. It is also possible to take a boat to Bohol, but will take 25 hours, and is only advisable if you have plenty of time at hand and enjoy a trip on sea, or have to travel on a rock-bottom budget or with a lot of luggage. Currently, there are numerous daily flights from Manila to Tagbilaran.


If you’re in Tagbilaran City, you can take a jeepney going to Panglao or tell a “habal-habal” (motorcycle for hire) to take you to Panglao Beach.
