The Kalayaan Twin Falls of Laguna

Aside from Pagsanjan Falls, there is another great waterfall destination in Laguna and this is the Kalayaan Twin Falls.

Located in the municipality of Kalayaan, it is one of the best tourist destinations in Laguna. It is also known as San Juan Twin Falls because it’s situated on the eastern part of Barangay San Juan.

The place is not much publicized, that’s why the water that streams from above is still pristine and crystal clear. Travelers will also be surprise of other falls situated in the vicinity. One can enjoy the cool water from the waterfall that goes directly into the man-made pool from a resort.

The man-made pool is the centerpiece of a barangay-operated resort. The resort is just near from the national highway and can easily be reached on foot from the same pathway. Upon entering the resort, visitors will notice two falls which streams away from the resort and flows straight into Laguna de Bay but this is not yet the twin falls.

To reach the Kalayaan Twin Falls, visitors need to climb a series of concrete steps just behind the pool area. Once tourists ascended to the top, they will see a forested area where other waterfalls will meet them. Another short climb will bring the visitors to the last falls of Kalayaan Twin Falls.

Locals believe that the water from the Kalayaan Twin Falls can cure some ailments though they don’t know how it can happen. That’s one of many reasons why the twin falls keeps on attracting some visitors and tourists aside from its jaw-dropping sceneries.

How to go there (From Manila):

One can take a bus going directly to Sta. Cruz. You can easily take a bus bound for Laguna or go to the HM bus terminal located in Cubao. From the HM Bus terminal in Sta. Cruz, ride a jeepney going to Paete. From there, Kalayaan is just 20-30 minute ride from Sta. Cruz.

Simply advise the driver to drop you off along Brgy. San Juan.  From there, you can see a church where the road going to the Kalayaan Twin Falls is just near. From the road there, just hire a tricycle that will take you to the falls and you’ll be there in just five minutes.

Where to dine:

Visitors who are hungry after their escapade can dine on Exotik Restaurant which is near to the national highway and just a short drive. Exotik serves local cuisine but they also serve exotic foods as their name suggests. Visitors can try snake, deer and frog dishes.
