The Masungi Mountain rock formations lie along the Sierra Madre Mountain Range at Barangay Cuyambay, Tanay, Rizal. This is a breathtaking place which resembles Great Britain’s Stonehenge.

Mount Masungi is one of the attractions in Tanay. It is a colossal rock formation that is comparable to the rock cliff formations in Palawan. In some areas, at certain times of the year, with the right angle of sunlight and viewed from the top, the formations look like tall spires of orange-colored rocks like a fusion of the limestone karsts of Palawan and the vermillion colored rocks of the Grand Canyon of the United States of America. At the very least, the formations are an impressive sight to behold. They seemingly goes on for miles with their spiky tops poking through thick vegetation.

The local folklore of Tanay also called the place “Palanas”. It is a DENR-protected area that is ideal for mountain climbing. For mountaineers or just fans of geology and petrology, you will be stunned as you explore the area. The place is perfect getaway for mountain hikers seeking for a mountain to conquer. It looks daunting but if you are motivated and really looking for some adventures, it is a perfect place for you.

There is a campsite at the foot of the mountain. You can enjoy trekking, nature tripping, and bird watching here. You can spot various flora and fauna as you walk up the trails.

The peak of the mountain gives you a place to see the stunning panorama of the surrounding municipalities of Rizal. The Laguna Lake, the largest lake in the country, and the towers of Manila are clearly visible here. It is a majestic and breathtaking view.
