The Waterfall with Many Names of Majayjay, Laguna

Majayjay is a town in the province of Laguna. The place has many tourist attractions including the famous Mount Banahaw where it became a haven for mountain climbers and hikers. At the foot of the mountain one can explore the alluring Bukal Falls, also known as Kilangin Falls.

The falls borders the town of Liliw and Majayjay. In Majayjay, it is located in Brgy. Bukal, hence locals call it the Bukal Falls. Meanwhile for the Liliw locals, it is called the Kilangin Falls. It is also called Maimpis Falls by some residents there.

The waterfall is surrounded by rusty and crimson-coloured rocks covered with lush green moss. The crystal clear pools, the icy cold water and the high rock walls will greet tourists once they reach Bukal Falls. The water source of the waterfall comes from a pool surrounded by green wall of rocks; this is what the folks primarily refer as the Kilangin Falls.

Downstream are innumerable unnamed cascades and provoking pools which are perfect for travellers. The area that surrounds Bukal Falls is not yet well established but there are plans to develop the place and actively promote it alongside Tanay Falls which is more popular.

Visitors will certainly enjoy the stunning scenery of Bukal Falls and they can enjoy swimming or diving around but it is advisable for tourists to visit the place on a day-hike because there is no campsite around the falls nor comfort rooms or a private area for personal needs. One can spend the night on resorts nearby.

How to get there (From Manila):

Tourists who want to see and enjoy the icy cold water of Bukal Falls can take a bus bound to Sta. Cruz, Laguna at Buendia (Gil Puyat – LRT) bus terminal. Minimum is fare is around 150 pesos. Tell the bus attendant to drop you off at the terminal where jeepneys going to Majayjay are situated.

Once you are in Majayjay, hire a tricycle cab to take you to the Barangay Hall of Brgy. Bukal. From there, you will be asked to register first and after registering, a barangay police officer will guide you to the falls.
