Places to See

Carmen Municipal Hall – The municipal hall has a glamorous palace-like architectural design that is marked as one of the town's tourist destinations.

Beaches – Plaza Beach Resort is a long stretch of white sand located at Sitio Bulihon, Barangay Tagcatong. Balite Beach Resort is located in Barangay Vinapor.

Mount Carmel View Park – Commonly known as “Marcos Park”, it is located at San Isidro, Barangay Tagcatong. It offers an aerial view of the whole Carmen and its neighboring towns, plus the island province of Camiguin.

Punta Diwata Cave – One of the attractions of the town, the awe-inspiring cave is consisited of 43 caves that have a spectacular view of the sea and nearby Camiguin Island.

Vinapor Blue Waters – Situated near the cliffs of Barangay Vinapor, this resort is consisted of carved stones formed into dinosaurs. It is the reason why it is locally known as “Jurassic Park”. The picturesque view of the blue waters entice tourist and its good facilities give much relaxation.

Veranda I and II Resorts – This is a beach resort, hotel, and convention venue located at Barangay Tagcatong and Barangay Rojales. It has air-conditioned rooms and suites, air conditioned cabañas, and other facilities like cottages fronting beachfront, seafood and Chinese restaurants, mini bar, convention hall, and swimming pool.

Scuba Diving Sites – Carmen is known for its adventurous dive sites along the Punta Diwata Reefs and Balete Wall. It has six dive sites with an excellent 80 feet of visibility. Reef life is rich with soft and hard corals, plus abundant reef and pelagic fishes. Profile ranges from sloping wall to cliffs with depths from 40 to over a hundred feet, with generally sandy floors. Prime sites are located in Brgys. Vinapor, Tagcatong, and Poblacion.

Kibanlag Falls – The falls is one of the attractive tourist destinations in Carmen. It has clear water flow separated by a rock at the brink of the waterfall.

Goso-on Fish Sanctuary – This is situated in Barangay Gosoon, Carmen which is now a favorite destination of skin divers. It has well-protected coral reefs, thus, various marine life including several exotic tropical fishes can be found here.

Did you know? Carmen was called Kabayawa by the Manobo natives. Carmen got its present name from the miraculous image of the Virgin of Mount Carmen, believed to have been instrumental in killing the leader of the bandits who used to inhabit the place.

How to get there

By air: There are two flights daily to Agusan Del Norte from Manila, and three flights weekly from Cebu.
By land: Air-conditioned buses ply the route from Surigao City, Davao City, and Cagayan de Oro City.
By sea: Agusan del Norte has daily trips by ship from Manila and Cebu via the Ports of Nasipit and Surigao.
