Treasures of Ilocos Norte at Gameng Museo

It is the living museum of a spirited past of Ilocos region – Gameng Museo (Museo Ilocos Norte).

A visit to Laoag will never be complete without a glance at the Gameng Museo or Museo Ilocos Norte. The museum is well maintained for the benefit of the future generations of the province. It showcases the history of Ilocos Norte. Gameng means "treasure" and the museum is a tribute to the wealth of the province.

Exhibits and Collections

The Museum is open on Monday-Saturday from 9AM to 5PM. Entrance fee is 20 pesos.

• Tabacalera Building or tobacco factory is a historical landmark standing within the museum. The old building was the Administration Center of the Tobacco Monopoly in Ilocos Norte during the Spanish times. One highlight of the museum is tobacco, the main product of the province.
• Old tools used in farming and fishing - the locals' main livelihood; typical Ilocano house furnishings; and framed pictures of old Ilocos.
• Rattan-woven handicrafts
• Traditional Ilocano clothing (Abel-Iloko cloths, and typical Ilocano costumes)
• Artifacts across the province
• A souvenir shop for everything Ilocano is located inside the compound.
