We had a very interesting and lively discussion with Mr. John Ruero, VP Externals of the Philippine Society of Information Technology Educators (PSITE) and Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) Manila Chapter; Mr. Mervin Buñag, President of ISSA Manila Chapter; Ms. Faith Dellosa, a Customer Support Officer; and Ms. Paula Malabanan, Product Marketing Assistant of MyPhone.

As a continuation of our discussion last week about ethical hacking, we tackled a very close and relevant topic: IT Security. While it has many aspects and branches like web security, network security, social engineering, ethical and non-ethical hacking, and digital forensics among others, IT Security is not discussed and taught in the academe as much as we want to. Not even a course program in most colleges and universities, IT Security is actually a huge niche in the industry. There is a large demand for IT Security professionals nowadays. That's why PSITE and ISSA are working together to train and enable teachers for them to teach IT Security in schools. Another good idea is to tap the government to review and revise college curriculums, especially in the ever evolving world of IT, in accordance to the demands of the industry.

Ms. Faith Dellosa meanwhile shared her experiences in customer service. She is currently working in a telco company and handling concerns of the subscribers and customers. Very adept in customer relations, she told us that every problem always has a solution - a snippet of wisdom that can be applied at work, in schools, and even in our personal lives. A huge part of building integrity between a company and its customers and clients lies in the after sales and customer service.

Lastly, Ms. Paula Malabanan talked about MyPhones latest gadget, the A919 Duo, with 5.0" IPS capacitive screen, 8MP camera, and running on Android ICS. For only 7,999 pesos, you can have a smartphone that is internationally competitive and proudly Pinoy. Let's patronize our own!

Stay tuned for another hour of relevant IT talk, news, and updates only here in the Vigattin Radio Program at Radyo Inquirer 990 AM every Saturday, 10-11 AM.
