Welcome Pilgrims at Bangui Church

In Philippine tourism, the town of Bangui once proved that it is a must-see destination that a tourist should visit. It has its own share of beauty that many tourists will enjoy in many ways. Aside from the Abang Falls, there is another landmark that marks the town’s rich cultural heritage – Bangui Church.

Bangui Church – It was built in 1660 and damaged by several earthquakes. The church's front was destroyed during the Japanese occupation but was recently reconstructed. It has a neo-classic facade which has an entrance with semicircular arch crowned by a canopy. Today it serves as the church of San Lorenzo Martir.

Transportation:

By Land:  Take a bus trip from Manila to Ilocos Norte, which will last for about eight hours. Among the bus companies plying this route are the Philippine Rabbit, Partas, Dominion, Florida, Farinas, and Maria de Leon bus lines.

By Plane: Take a direct flight from Manila to Laoag via Cebu Pacific or Philippine Airlines. Travel time is about an hour. Flights are usually at night, so better make the necessary adjustments on your itinerary.

From Laoag, take the Laoag-Cagayan route. About 5 minutes after Burgos town proper, a directional marker on the left side of the road will lead you to Bangui.

Getting Around:  Ilocos Norte is best explored on foot or riding the calesa, the traditional horse-drawn carriage that promises a unique experience in itself. Tricycles are also available for traveling short distances. Going from town to town would mean taking a bus, a mini-bus, or a jeepney.
