Cronado and continued by Maestro Proceso who came from Manila to finish the work. It was gutted by fire in 1866 except for the Holy Cross Chapel. The church was finally finished in 1870 after Capitan Mateo Espinoso, a sculptor and painter of renown, put on the finishing touches. It has a main nave, a transcript, and twenty-eight pillars which support the walls. The walls are as thick as the pillars which are two meters thick and made of mortar and lime.
