This year, Kabankalan City celebrated the 37th Sinulog Festival last January 11-20, 2013, with its theme "Above and Beyond Fun: A Pageantry of Thanksgiving". On January 11, 2013, the celebration started with a holy mass at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, followed by the Sinulog 2013 Invitational Shootfest at the Central Philippines State University at 8 AM to 4 PM. The City's Mayor, Isidro Zayco, led the opening salvo held at the town's public plaza around 5 PM along with the band and fireworks display at 7 PM.

It is celebrated every January 6, but this year the event officially ends this Sunday, January 13, on the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord. The twelve days of Christmas end with the Feast of the Epiphany, also called the The Adoration of the Magi or the The Manifestation of God. It is also known as the Pasko ng Matatanda (Feast of the Elderly); the day that especially honors senior citizens.
