Batalay Shrine: The Story of the Augustinian Priest, Holy Cross, and Holy Water

A spring of clear water sprouted near the cross, believed to have healings powers, which the natives regarded as an unusual phenomenon.

St. John the Baptist Parish/Bato Church

The church has withstood the test of time, wars, and ravages of natural calamities. It was built in the spirit of “Bayanihan” by the natives who toiled like ants until each brick adhered together the legendary bell that warned the Batonhons of the incoming Japanese Guerillas during the Second World War.

Kosta Alcantara Beach Resort

It is the residence of the former governor of the province who retired here with his wife and opened it to the public a few years ago. The atmosphere of the resort is a reflection of the graciousness of the governor and his staff. The house is surrounded by a garden where the ex-governor’s wife lovingly tends some magnificent species of orchids.
